The small village of Lü is situated on a sunny mountainside, high above Val Müstair. The name comes from the Latin word lux, meaning light. Lü is a hot tip for botanists and plant lovers, because rare types of orchis, figworts and medicinal plants thrive in the area around the village. Thanks to its high altitude and clear skies, Lü is home to the ‘Alpine Astrovillage’ centre for star gazing and astrophotography. In winter, Lü is the starting point for the high altitude cross-country skiing trail and the sled run to Tschierv, while in summer it’s the gateway to mountain bike and hiking trails over the Pass da Costainas towards S-charl and Scuol.
