Fuldera is a quiet farming village. Many houses are painted using the decorative sgraffito technique. The former schoolhouse is now the Chastè da cultura (castle of culture), which hosts numerous cultural events each year. A cross-country skiing trail passes through the plains of Fuldera and the old forester’s lodge has been converted into Chamonna da sport, the valley’s cross-country skiing centre. In winter Fuldera operates a small ski lift where children can learn to ski. Larch forests and riverside stands of birch trees make the Rom river ideal for summer walks. The Rom is the only main valley river in Switzerland that is not used to generate hydroelectricity. A hotel, shops, a biotope and a barbecue area with a playground round off the holiday delights.
